The Purpose: 
Every single day over one million Americans become victims of cyber crime.  It is the fastest growing and most prolific problem facing law enforcement.  In order to raise awareness regarding cyber crime, its dangers and its prevention, the Los Angeles County SheriffÕs, Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau in conjunction with the SheriffÕs Youth Foundation is conducting the Summer Cybercop Challenge for Kids.  Children entering grades 1–12 are invited to participate. 
Winning entries and their respective schools will receive valuable prizes.

The Contest:
The Challenge is simple.  

Kids entering grades 1-6 are asked to draw the Dream Cybercop Car.  Those entering grades 7-9 submit an essay.  If you are entering grades 10-12 you are asked to submit a short video.  The top three winning submissions for each category and their respective schools will receive a valuable prize.

Contest Period:

The Challenge opens May 1, 2014.  The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2014.


        
There are three age based categories in which you can submit; Junior, Intermediate, and Senior:

Junior
Category:

This category is open to children entering grades 1-6 who are asked to draw their ÒDream Cybercop Car.Ó  Participants can download the official coloring entry form, rules, and additional information by clicking ÒDream Cybercop Car.Ó

Intermediate Category:

This category is open to kids entering grades 7-9 who are asked to submit a 1,500 word essay on ÒHow you would identify, stop, and prevent someone from cyber bullying you or a friend?Ó  Participants can download the official rules and additional information by clicking ÒCyberbullying Essay.Ó

Senior
Category:

This category is open to students entering grades 10-12 to individually, or as a small team, develop and submit a 2-5 minute Public Service Announcement video that addresses issues relating to cyberbullying.  Participants can download the official rules and additional information by clicking ÒCyberbullying Video

Eligibility: 

Los Angeles County residents, entering grades 1-12 are eligible to participate.  There are some exceptions.

Awards: 

Valuable awards will be given to first, second, and third place finishers, and their respective schools, for each of the categories.
